All works on the construction of the Ložišće bypass on the island of Brač have been completed. The bypass is 1,540 meters long, and on October 28, 2020, a temporary use permit was obtained until the construction plot of the newly constructed road is formed in the cadastre.
The President of the County Assembly, the County Prefect of Split-Dalmatia and the Mayor of Milna Municipality officially opened the Korito Tunnel on the island of Brač, at the viewpoint location "Bobovišća". It is the first road tunnel built on the island, with a total length of 190 meters with portal structures. The investment value is 32 million kuna.
The opening of the newly built bypass made it possible to bypass the section of the road through a densely urbanized area under the protection of the historical architectural ensemble of the Ložišća settlement. The existing situation did not meet the minimum technical requirements for state roads, i.e. there were no conditions for two-way traffic (due to the narrow road, the passage of tourist buses was particularly difficult), but instead alternating traffic was organized by traffic lights.
After the opening of the Korito tunnel, the Split-Dalmatia County Prefect said: "I am pleased with what I saw here today on the western part of the island of Brač, where the Ložišća bypass project has been completed. We have opened the first tunnel on the island of Brač to traffic. The bypass section, although relatively short, is absolutely important to the people of the island of Brač. Therefore, I express my gratitude to the Government and representatives of Croatian Roads for noticing the importance of this project for all residents of Milna, Ložišća, Bobovišća and Bobovišća na moru. I thank the residents of these places for their patience because they had to use bypass roads during the works. I congratulate and thank the Mayor Frano Lozić for monitoring the dynamics of the works almost every day, impatiently waiting for this day." The County Prefect did not forget to finally praise the contractors and supervisors for completing their work within the given time frame and the planned financial framework.
The president of the county assembly, as a local who knows best what this project means to the people of this region, briefly said: "Ložišća is an unusually recognizable, indigenous, significant place in this part of the island. The first traffic light was once opened here, and today the first tunnel. I can only thank everyone who contributed in any way to the speed and quality of the works on the road and tunnel, and express my hope that the second phase of the works will also be carried out according to plan. We from the county continue with the balanced development of all parts of our county, including the islands."„
The Mayor of Milna Municipality, Mr. Lozić, was particularly happy. On his own behalf and on behalf of all members of the municipal council, and primarily on behalf of the residents of all settlements in the municipality, he thanked the prefect, the county and Croatian Roads for the successful implementation of this project. He also expressed hope that there will be more such infrastructure projects, important for the local population, tourism and the overall development of the economy in this part of the island of Brač.
