Curiosities, culture and entertainment

Milna and Brač are too diverse to be reduced to one or two dimensions of experience. Interesting stories, centuries-old cultural heritage, untouched nature, customs of past generations, unique gastronomy... rich offer, the choice is yours.

Accommodation

Milna is one of the safest ports on the Adriatic. That's why most sailors will stay on board, and satisfy their curiosity by taking walks, renting a bike, scooter or car. However, accommodation is also possible in one of the comfortable apartments, villas with a pool, or hotels, and the friendly hosts, relaxed atmosphere and care for the guest are just some of the memories that will remain in your memory forever.

Landmarks – tangible and intangible heritage

It is best to let a walk through Milna and its surroundings tell you the history of the westernmost part of the island of Brač. To begin with, it is worth knowing that the cultural and historical entity of the settlement of Milna has the status of a cultural asset. You can start with the house of Vladimir Nazor, a great Croatian writer and poet, and a visit to the Three Sisters Tower and the Symbolic Tower will reveal to you that Nazor is not just a writer. Kaštel Gligo will take you to the 16th century, when defense against pirates was a matter of life and death, and Kaštil Anglišćina is a monument to the Renaissance era and the Cerinić family that built it. You will reach Kaštil via Polaca, a loggia on which there is a bust of the Milna philanthropist Ivan Bonačić-Sargo. A school from the middle of the century before last, the Blatačka House and numerous ancient wells will take you back to an era when people lived according to human standards.

Sacred heritage

Perhaps the most impressive story of Milna and Brač is the sacral heritage. Rendić's bell tower in Ložišće is a small masterpiece by the great Croatian master. Intended for Venice, it was completed on Brač in 1899. A hundred and more years earlier, Ignacije Macanović from Trogir built the Baroque church of Our Lady of the Annunciation. But history does not begin there. Two small churches from the 14th century, St. John the Baptist and St. Martin, are the oldest, and have been renovated with valuable works of art inside.

Active vacation

Walking, cycling, diving, surfing, rowing… an activity that is the same everywhere in the world, but on Brač it is an activity that you will remember, a vacation that you will remember. Beautiful views along the well-maintained walking and cycling paths will leave you breathless. The neighboring islands, the open sea, untouched nature and numerous interesting things that you will encounter will fill your day. You can rent bicycles and all the necessary equipment for any sporting activity.

Beaches and coves

Beaches for families with children or smaller beaches for peaceful enjoyment, beaches with the shade of pine forests or deep coves that protect from the wind and create an atmosphere of intimacy, it's up to you which one you choose. Milna offers about twenty beautiful beaches and coves, perhaps it's best to try each of them.

Gastronomy

Many gourmets will say that they don't know where they came from until they try local food. Milna is ready for that challenge. In taverns and restaurants, you should definitely try some authentic specialties made of fish, meat, cheese, vegetables, accompanied by real local red wine. The hosts like to compete to see who is better, and the guests, of course, look forward to it.
