It is no exaggeration to say that Milna is one of the most beautiful bays on the Adriatic and the safest port and anchorage on the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea, which has carved itself into the mainland like a long fjord on the gentle, western side of the island of Brač, in the immediate vicinity of the Split Gate, which connects the Hvar and Split Channels, making it an essential route for sailors.

The sea and the coast equally form the basis of the traditional identity, modernity and future development of Milna. The economy is linked to the natural component of the sea and the coast - today these are mostly diverse tourist products, then especially nautical tourism and catering, the indispensable fishing (whose influence on the economy is weakening) and mariculture, which is becoming an increasingly important branch of the economy.
