FLAG Brač (LAG Brač)

The Croatian Leader network (July 2020) consists of 59 members, of which 49 are local action groups (LAGs and FLAGs) and ten national scientific and professional institutions and organizations for integrated local development. Leader is a partnership of different interest groups that provide direct support to local development stakeholders and projects of national development programs.

On the island of Brač, two Location Action Groups (LAG and FLAG Brač) were established to support the development of the island, with the aim of designing projects important for specific local needs and to adopt a unique development strategy that will advance the development of the island and increase the competitiveness of the island of Brač.

The Local Action Group (LAG) Brač represents a local partnership of the public, private and civil sectors in an equal relationship, based on the guidelines of the LEADER approach, i.e. on the "bottom-up" management model.

Local Action Group in Fisheries (FLAG – Fisheries LAG; LAGUR – LAG in fishing) represents a partnership between the fisheries sector and other local stakeholders from the private and public sectors, with the aim of sustainable development of fisheries and mariculture and the task of developing and implementing a joint strategy.

Why are LAG and FLAG important for the Municipality of Milna?

The Municipality of Milna has raised the bar for development and set ambitious goals for the coming period, for which it must secure funds from European Union funds and other sources of financing. Access to these funds is easier to achieve through the mediation of Local Action Groups (LAGs or FLAGs) that work on the preparation and implementation of local development strategies, which include the development of rural or fisheries areas and the provision of direct support to local development projects.
