Bobovisca na Moru

The settlement of Bobovišća na Moru developed along the sea coast as a port for the settlements of Bobovišća and Ložišća, at the bottom of a natural bay that branches into several smaller ones, the largest of which is Vičja (Vještičja) draga, to which many legends and stories are associated. Due to its natural position, since ancient times it has been a safe haven for ships from all kinds of dangers lurking from the sea, and today it is an unavoidable bay and safe anchorage for many sailors who want to experience the unique beauty of preserved nature and clean sea.
Numerous archaeological discoveries and objects found in the sea and on land in the area of the settlement (although much has not yet been explored) testify to Bobovišće na Moru as an ancient port.

It is the only settlement on Brač that does not have its own church, and the prominent building that dominates the bay is the fortified castle (built in the Renaissance-Baroque style) of the Gligo (Marinčević) family. The settlement of Bobovišća na Moru is also known among the people as the “poet’s port” because it is the home of the Nazor family, one of the greatest Croatian poets and writers, Vladimir Nazor. The symbolic monument is the acropolis with a concrete three-column, which the poet dedicated to his sisters, calling it “The Three Sisters”. At the bottom of the bay is a statue of Vladimir Nazor.

Bobovišća na Moru today

Due to its natural advantages, it is today a gathering place for climbers and has the potential to develop active – sports and adventure tourism, in addition to nautical tourism.
In 2020, work began on the reconstruction of the road (621 m) connecting Bobovišća na Moru with the state road, which will connect the settlement with Milna and Supetar.
In Vrelo Park, in the immediate vicinity of the house and monument of Vladimir Nazor, a replica of the acropolis "Three Sisters", the work of the Brač stonemason Nižetić, was erected in 2020.
