Bobovišća

The settlement of Bobovišća is located on the western side of the island of Brač, in the interior of the island, on the road leading to Milna and administratively belongs to the Municipality of Milna. Bobovišća was named after the first inhabitants who came from the Bosnian Bobovac, who, fleeing from the Turkish invaders, settled in the present-day area of the settlement. Bobovišća has a rich history, as evidenced by the medieval churches: St. George and the church of St. Martin from the 17th century. In Bobovišća, the house of the Cerinić-Gligo family has been preserved, one of the most beautiful remains of architecture from the first half of the 19th century (protected cultural heritage).

Bobovišća today

Bobovišće has about 65 inhabitants who are mainly engaged in fishing, olive growing and viticulture.
During 2020, streets and unclassified roads in the settlement area were renovated. Due to its preserved tradition and way of life, Bobovišća is interesting for the development of tourism products based on agricultural offerings, which will certainly attract niche tourists who love nature and agricultural tourism, and Bobovišća's advantage is its proximity to the sea.
